My Thoughts in Poetry

The Night is Hollow

the night is hollow
feel the heat as it enters your breath
the quiet of the night seems so hollow
as you wait

waiting for the breath of air to pass through you
giving you life and energy
making you feel alive
but the breath does not come

And you wait
knowing that the time is waning
for you to open and receive
and the time is limited

the heat surrounds you and engulfs you
and you just want to breathe
as you take in the air
but the air is not there

you wait for it to give you life
but you are in a vacuum
a void the leaves you empty.
there is nothing that comes to fill you
so you must breathe on your own

So you breathe on your own
and you fill yourself with life
and the void goes away
then you take a breath
and you feel the night
and the night is hollow

the night is hollow
waiting to be filled
with your dreams
then the void closes up
closing on your emptiness
filling your mind with thoughts
filling with your freedom
from the hollow vacuum you once knew

now the night is hollow
but it is not empty

Life With Patti

Here we go!

I think I need this blog more than anyone else does. I have attempted journaling a few times over the past years, but I never seem to find value in writing to myself.

Sunday, on Father's day I created a space that allows me to voice my thoughts and ideas about a subject I seem to know a fair amount about. This has spurned me onto creating this space.

In this space I can discuss what is happening to me. I can put my goals down and have a place where I can measure them. I once had a friend who blogged her weight loss journey. Reading it was helpful in understanding how she came to view herself and to see how completely normal I was. We all have issues and we are all striving to be better than we are (for the most part). Whether this is by trying to eat better, exercise more or to control behaviors that put ourselves in awkward situations (me, I talk more when I get nervous and I'm pretty sure I should not mix men and tequila).

So here you are reading and asking yourself..."so what are her goals". Well they are fairly simple.

  1. Have more fun with my family.
  2. Treat the body walk I around in a bit better than I have.
  3. Write my freaking book gawd damn it!
  4. Get my nursing degree
  5. Teach nursing at the local college.
This is the place I will come to measure the progress I'm making on these goals. Feel free to ask questions and make comments.
